Please join us for the 2013 Young Women LEAD Conference
October 15, 2013 at the Bank of Kentucky Center on the Campus of NKU!
Presented by Toyota and in partnership with SOAR and NKU’s Institute for Talent Development, Young Women LEAD is a leadership, education and leadership development conference for high school girls in the Cincinnati area and surrounding counties. The conference will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at the Bank of Kentucky Center on the campus of NKU.
Admission is free to all who attend! Registration is limited and will be open September 3 – October 1, 2013.
Keynote Speaker – Debra Gano
Still a single mom, Debra is CEO, Publisher, and Editor-in-Chief of BYOU ‘Be Your Own You’ magazine, a self-esteem publication for girls ages 8-16 that features positive celebrity role models, ‘real’ girls making a difference, self-esteem articles & tips, games, contests, and much more. Her mission is to build self-esteem in fun ways in girls around the world. She lives in Denver, CO with her 10-year-old daughter, Ella.
Debra Gano is also the best-selling author of the Heartlight Girls series. As a passionate advocate for women’s & girls empowerment, she is a sought-after national speaker and self-esteem expert for television, radio, and print media. Her book, Beauty’s Secret, A Girl’s Discovery of Inner Beauty, is the recipient of multiple national awards, including Gold Winner of the Mom’s Choice Award and Children’s Fiction First Place in the USA Book News National Best Books Awards. Her work has been endorsed by many best-selling empowerment authors (such as Jack Canfield, Marianne Williamson, & Neale Donald Walsch), girls’ organizations including the Girl Scouts and Smart-Girl, Inc., educators, counselors, corporations, and parents and girls alike.
Mini Keynote Speaker – Cassandra Perkins
Cassandra Perkins began her acting career on the theatrical stage when she was five years old. Performing in as many as twenty productions, Cassandra demonstrated her love of the stage & her passion for speaking. By the age of ten, Cassandra had blossomed into a fine young actress & moved into film, earning several IMDb film credits, as well as a Heartland Regional Emmy nomination.
Speaking at schools and girls’ organizations, Cassandra coordinates community youth outreach for suicide and bullying prevention. Cassandra’s life goal is to inspire, lift, & motivate – making a positive impact that will empower others to live a purpose-driven life.

School buses should park in Lot O after dropping off students. Those who are driving should park in the Welcome Center garage that is across the street from the Bank of Kentucky Center.
