Welcome to Louisville Young Women LEAD!
Presented by Toyota and in partnership with SOAR, Young Women LEAD is a leadership, education and leadership development conference for high school girls in the Louisville area and surrounding counties. The third annual conference will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2013!

Keynote Speaker – Dominique Dawes, Olympic Gold Medalist
Dominique Dawes is an Olympic Gold medalist and three-time Olympian. She is the only American gymnast to medal at three different Olympic Games in the team competition, and the first African-American gymnast to win an Olympic Gold medal. Dawes paved the way for other young African American gymnasts to strive for Olympic glory, including 2012 Olympic All-Around Gold Medalist, Gabrielle Douglas. After years of dedication to gymnastics, this graduate of the University of Maryland, retired to focus on her passion to encourage, educate and motivate others with a focus on health and fitness. Dawes is an accomplished motivational speaker, blogger, and TV host. Most recently, she served as part of FOX Sports’ Olympic analyst team during the 2012 London Olympic Games, recapping daily events and interviewing gymnastics stars, such as Gabrielle Douglas. Dawes delivers powerful and inspiring messages of leadership, focus, teamwork, and health and wellness. She has the unique ability to empower vast audiences, from corporate executives and small business owners, to women’s groups, universities and youth organizations.
Opening Speaker – Gloria Hatcher, UPS Assistant Chief Pilot at Chicago-Rockford International Airport
Gloria Hatcher is the UPS Assistant Chief Pilot at Chicago-Rockford International Airport with responsibility for flight operations for the second largest domestic hub sorting facility. Prior to her current role, Gloria served as a Boeing 757/767 Fleet System Operations Supervisor in Louisville, KY. Gloria began her career with UPS in 2006 as a Boeing 727 Flight Training Supervisor, Flight Engineer Simulator Instructor, and FAA Check Airman. She performs various roles as a UPS representative for the Women in Aviation Conference, United Way Foundation, Rockford International Air Fest, UPS video productions, and CARE team member.
Gloria holds a degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences from Indiana University and will complete her MBA at Webster University in 2012. In addition, Gloria served as a Wing Safety Officer and KC-135 Air Refueling Instructor Pilot in the Air Force Reserve. She continues her 18 years of military service at the Air Force Safety Center at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico as a Mishap Investigations Team Chief.
Conference Emcee – Charla Young
Charla Young is well-known within the WAVE-TV viewing area for her work as a consumer reporter and troubleshooter. At present, Young is President and Chief Executive Officer of Power to Change Communications, an organization she designed to help others reach their fullest potential through executive coaching, leadership development training, strategic planning, team building and education of business protocol.
